Garden Tours: South Cotswolds
Depart 9.30am for a slow drive around the Coln River, down the valley and taking in all the sights of Bibury. Stopping off at Barnsley House for refreshments and tour of Rosemary Verey’s much loved Gardens. Recognised for her talents Rosemary famously designed Princes Charles’s Highgrove estate, Elton John’s Woodside parkland and the New York Botanical.
Lunch will be enjoyed in the picturesque town of Burford. We recommend a visit to the garden centre which is a great place to explore with beautiful interior pieces and the largest collection of plants in the Cotswolds.
In the afternoon explore HRH Highgrove, The King Charles III and The Queen Consort private residence, near Tetbury in Gloucestershire. Since 1980, when His Majesty the King first arrived at Highgrove, he has devoted much energy to transforming the gardens around the house, which are renowned as some of the most inspiring and innovative in the United Kingdom.
Return to the hotel approximately 5.30pm. Recommended Visit time: Highgrove the Wildflower Meadow is usually flowering from late April until early June. There are many things to see throughout the year. Tickets need to be pre booked in advance to ensure open, the estate closes when the King is in residence.
